Character and Success

There is a saying that has been around for over 20 years:  “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”   This means that no matter how brilliant your plan, it will fail without the right company culture that energizes people to carry it forward.   This quote is often attributed to Peter Drucker, but he never said it.  Some potential authors are Steve Jobs at Apple, Jack Welch at GE, Mark Fields at Ford, and/or Richard Clark at Merck.

At M2 Capital, we are launching another quote:  “Character eats strategy for breakfast.”  No one else has said it like this, but it is just as relevant and powerful.   The best plans have integrity, are sustainable and can be implemented quickly and effectively.  Executives and employees with character are best able to bring these plans to life:  they can respond better to pressure and challenges and treat each other and their customers and suppliers with respect.

High character leaders and their companies are more effective and profitable in the long run.  On the other side, bad conduct eventually catches up with you.  This is backed up by studies that show companies with leaders of high integrity outperform their competition.   The above linked article above by Scott Walker supports this point.

At M2 Capital Advisors, we act with integrity and sound strategy.  The combination of both creates an exponential force for success.   We want to share that force with our clients.
